Virtual panel discussion on the Croatian research landscape
In late 2019, Elsevier embarked on a pro bono project to glean insights into the Croatian research landscape and identify successes, challenges and opportunities for improvement.

In the seminal report, “A research landscape assessment of Croatia”,Elsevier’s research and analysis concludes that Croatia is successfully increasing its research footprint, growing its scholarly output in the period of 2014-2018 by 3.6%, which is well above the global average of 1.6%.

But additional work needs to be done to continue this growth. When compared with its peer countries, Croatia falls short in several key areas including advocacy for increased research funding and encouraging researchers to augment expertise and networks by seeking research opportunities outside of Croatia--and bringing that experience back home to further advance Croatia’s research goals.

With the Croatian Association for Scholarly Communication, Elsevier is proud to present, “Future pathways of Croatian research,” which will bring together Croatian research policy makers and leading research institution leaders to discuss state-of-the-art Croatian research, its challenges and blockers, and possible pathways for a sustainable future of research in Croatia.
