How to get published: Some guidance for prospective authors
The lecture will provide a range of helpful tips and guidance on how to get your research published in a per reviewed journal article. The topics covered will include: 1) how to select a journal; 2) the importance of journal rankings and impact factors; 3) how the editorial review process works; 4) selecting topics that will be of interest to a journal; and 5) how to craft and write a journal article. Finally, the lecture will also provide a short overview on other publishing outlets such as books and book chapters and monographs.

Prof. Neil Sipe
Neil Sipe is Honorary Professor of Planning in the School of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Queensland. He is the Editor of Australian Planner and Associate Editor of Geography and Sustainability. His research interests include transport and land use planning; natural resource management; and international comparisons of planning systems. Previously he was Director of the planning program at the University of Queensland, Associate Director of Griffith University’s Urban Research Program and of the Head of Griffith University’s School of Urban and Environmental Planning. He holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University (USA). Prior to coming to Australia in 1998, he was an investment banker and economic consultant.
