Dr Khasiah Zakaria
Chief Librarian @Univeriti Malaya
Khasiah Zakaria, a conversant professional librarian with a Doctorate in Library Science and a Masters in Mass Communication has more than 30 years of experience in the academic library setting. Dedicated to serving the university community by assisting in information skills, retrieval and research techniques and committed to promoting literacy in the local area by supporting reading programs and other adult education initiatives. She has all-embracing knowledge about materials, research databases, circulation, and other aspects of archiving and wide experience of supervising staff and supporting library operations. She has presented in many seminars and conferences, written books, book chapters and many articles. Having worked for many years with Universiti Teknologi MARA, Khasiah is currently Chief Librarian at Universiti Malaya Kuala Lumpur since June 2019. She helps Malaysian Librarians by participating in events together with Persatuan Pustakawan Malaysia, IFLA, and Syria Care.
Melissa Fulkerson
Senior Director of Product Management, Research Reference Books Portfolio @Elsevier
Melissa Fulkerson has held various leadership roles in marketing, sales and product at Elsevier since 2009; the common thread in all those roles has been a passionate determination to expand awareness of STEM books into libraries and to consumers. She is currently the Senior Director of Product Management for Elsevier’s Research Reference books portfolio. In this role, she leads a team of 7 product managers and analysts who strive to deliver a world-class ebook offering on ScienceDirect. She has extensive experience in the ebook industry, having created and maintained partnerships with key channel partners aimed at ensuring breadth of availability library choice for content acquisition. She is passionate about the intersection of reading, research and education and is based in the United States.
